Whale Watching Merimbula
Come Whale Watching aboard The "True Blue" during September to November for the total marine adventure. Watch these giants of the sea, such as Southern Rights, Minke, rare Blue Whales, Humpbacks with their young, as they feed and play close to our shores.
On most cruises and fishing trips we see a variety of marine life including Fairy Penguins, Seals, Dolphins and many different species of pelagic birds.
In recent years Merimbula has become a major Whale Watching destination. This section of the coast has been identified as a feeding ground for several species of whales during their southern migration.

In October, 1997 the Super Sea-cat "True Blue" was built and launched at Merimbula to take keen Whale enthusiasts to see these magnificent creatures.
Passengers on board are able to witness for themselves the incredible gentleness of the Humpback Whales.
If you have often thought what it would be like to get close to whales and dolphins in their own marine wonderland, then this is your big opportunity.
The Sapphire Coast Whale watching season commences around Mid September to end of November. They are quite spectacular creatures when they breach and lift their huge weight clear out of the water and are also very curious.

The young can often come up very close to the vessel by swimming around and underneath, despite the skipper cutting the engines and staying the required limits away from them.
The cows and bulls are seldom far from their young. On three occasions last year, passengers were privileged to see the rare and endangered Blue Whale (150 ton of the largest living creature on the earth). As "True Blue" cruised the Sapphire Coast, Skipper and owner John Matterson communicated with National Parks and Wildlife Officers, Hawaiian based Pacific Whale Foundation Scientists and other boat operators to monitor the whales progress and safety.
There were a lot more Humpback cows with calves than the previous year, and they were staying for longer periods in the warmer waters to feed and care for their young before migrating south to the Antarctic.
We also offer packages that cater for the fisherman with reef and game fishing and for the nature lover we have whale watching packages.
Our Packages include Holiday Accommodation at the Luxurious Captains Quarters, Merimbula, NSW. |
